Frequently asked questions
- How does the AI come up with domain names?
- Describe your business in one sentence — "a small shop selling handcrafted coffee", for example. The AI generates candidate names from that, checks each one against the registry for real availability, scores it with reasons, estimates its worth, and tells you where to register it. You never have to think of a name first.
- How accurate is the availability check?
- Accurate. Availability is not guessed — it comes from live RDAP registry queries for each TLD, the same source a registrar reads. Domains that are already taken but listed for sale on a marketplace are flagged with the listing and a link.
- How is the valuation calculated?
- From explainable public rules: length, how common the word roots are, how intuitive it is to spell, and the premium on the suffix. It is an order-of-magnitude reference to help you decide whether a name is worth chasing, not a promised sale price — real domain prices depend heavily on both parties.
- Which extensions are supported, and when should I pick .ai?
- .com, .ai and .store today. .com still carries the lowest recognition cost and suits most businesses. .ai fits AI products and technical brands — short words are still reasonably available, but noticeably more expensive. .store suits ecommerce and retail, where good words are far easier to get than on .com.
- Where do I register a domain I like?
- The results link straight to where you can get it. Available names go to a registrar; taken-but-listed names link to the marketplace holding them. We neither hold domains for you nor mark up the price — whoever you register with owns the record.
- Is it free? Do I need an account?
- Free, and no account needed — just open it and type. It is a free tool from ShopToFly; our actual business is building and maintaining cross-border ecommerce sites, and we built this so naming costs you less time.
